Bollywood review 2013

On Friday 1st. March the quiet and peaceful Beaconsfield Neighbourhood Centre experienced a ‘first’ when the K Sparkle team set about transforming this still very new and modern Function venue into a pulsating Indian style dance hall/ restaurant!

Bollywood 2013 was bigger, better and much louder than the introductory event held at St Michael’s old parish hall twelve months ago. With some 150 guests, many of whom were dressed in colourful Bollywood attire, the mood from the outset was upbeat and exciting.  With the focus on family entertainment, youngsters attending were very attracted to the henna painting area where they were thrilled to have arms and legs painted on by the highly talented henna artist. Our sincere thanks to Mansi for all her tireless work.

A magnificent Indian meal was served to open proceedings before the audience was treated to Bollywood style dancing at its pulsating best  After the brilliant performance, the dance floor suddenly burst into life with the vast majority on their feet and ready to ‘have a go’ and really let their hair down.

The action never slowed and it was a relief to many when a delicious dessert was served to allow time to recover and re-charge!

A raffle was held with a range of prizes all generously donated by local businesses, and it is most pleasing to report that the night helped raise over $2,000. for the KSparkle Fund.

Special thanks go to Ann and Steve Gaunt who, once again, did a fantastic job planning, organising and coordinating the night. Thanks too are extended to all those volunteers who helped set up and clear up after the event – it was a case of many hands made for light work.

Without doubt, the occasion was a lot of fun and a great success and it’s no secret that the Bollywood dancers will be back giving lessons at the Beaconsfield Centre in Term 2!!!

Important Foot Note……

The ‘I’s’ still have it for 2014, when the theme for the proposed March event will be, not Indian, but IRISH!……… To be sure, mark Friday 21st. March in your diary for a night not to be missed!
