They did it!!
The intrepid team of 12 KSparkle supporters hit the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro last week – at 5,895 metres (or 19,308 feet), the highest peak in Africa, to raise funds for Room to Read’s efforts in Tanzania- What a tremendous, self-less and epic achievement!
We welcome supporters of KSparkle to come along on Saturday 9th August to learn more about this amazing adventure from Team Leader Jason Rathbone, at a special ‘Welcome Home’ Dinner at Tulip Thai Restaurant in Beaconsfield from 7.00 pm.
Places strictly limited so hurry and BOOK NOW – only $35/ person (BYO Wine or buy it there)
Whilst climbing Kilimanjaro is said to be ‘easy’ in that it requires no technical climbing ability, the greatest challenge and danger is the high altitude which can lead to under- prepared climbers dying from improper acclimatisation and altitude sickness.
Having trekked Kokoda just a few years ago with 7 of the Kilimanjaro party, Jason described his latest adventure as “physically, emotionally and spiritually more difficult than the Kokoda experience”.
To learn more about how and why Jason and the team took on this amazing challenge, and in the process, raised almost $15,000 towards ‘Room to Read’s’ efforts in Tanzania through the KSparkle Fund, come and join us for a celebration homecoming dinner. Details below:
